December - Understand the Bushfire Alert Levels
During a bushfire, emergency services will provide as much information as possible through a variety of channels. DFES issues Community Alerts for bushfires that threaten lives and properties. The alert level changes to reflect the increasing risk to your life and the decreasing amount of time you have until the fire arrives. Click here for more info.
The Department of Child Protection is available to assist fire affected property holders. Funding available for Street Parties
The Shire is supporting street parties by providing up to $200 of receipts, blank invitations and a games bag. Click here for more information and the registration form.
Totem Poles Project at Riflebutts
The Bushfire Recovery Working Group has appointed a local artist to design and carve two totem poles from the existing Pine Trees that were destroyed during the bushfires. See the Public Artwork Brief for more info.
Funding available for Weed Control
The Cape to Cape Catchments Group have Caring for our Country funding to provide financial and technical support for control of arum lily, blackberry and woody weed species such as non local acacias and eucalypts, genista, figs, Victorian tea tree, and pittosporum etc. in the fire affected area. They can fund a contractor to undertake the work or provide the chemical and technical advice.
