Leavers celebrations
Overview
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River is visited by young people from throughout the state, during the month of November, to celebrate the official Leavers Celebrations on an annual basis.
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River work in collaboration with the local Make it Happen Group to effectively manage Leavers Celebrations to ensure that visiting young people have a safe and fun time, allowing them to celebrate in a way that has minimal impact on the local community.
The Make it Happen Group comprises representatives from the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, Margaret River Police, Margaret River Hospital, volunteers and community members.
Planning for Leavers also involves collaboration with the South West Leavers Group and the Busselton-Dunsborough Make it Happen Group to implement the Office of Crime Prevention Leavers WA State Strategy.
Key Outcomes
- School leavers visiting the area have a safe and enjoyable stay within the shire.
- Visiting leavers cause minimal impact on the local community.
- Future Plans
- The official Leavers Celebration dates, announced by the Office of Crime Prevention, are Saturday 26 November to Monday 28 November 2011.
