Cr Jenny McGregor
North Ward
Cr McGregor’s family, the Duggans were members of the original group settlers in the South West. Cr McGregor completed her primary and secondary schooling in the Augusta-Margaret River Shire at local schools.
In her teens, Jenny ventured to Perth to further her employment as career opportunities in the area for women were limited at the time.
Cr McGregor commenced her vocation with a Perth based pneumatics , air control equipment, company and was the first female person to undertake and pass an engineering course in pneumatics. Following some time in this career path Cr McGregor ventured into the field of air freight. This saw Jenny travel extensively throughout Australia and finally based her life in Darwin.
After a family crisis Cr McGregor relocated from Darwin to Perth to be closer to home continuing to work in the air freight business. Approximately 10 years ago Jenny moved back to the district and has taken a strong interest in the community, where it is and where it is heading. Jenny nominated to become a Councillor and was elected unopposed for the then Cowaramup Ward in 2005.
Some of Cr McGregor’s other achievements include being an active member of the Lions Club of Cowaramup, member of the Business Professional Women and a Justice of the Peace. Cr McGregor and her husband own and run an electrical/refrigeration company in the district which allows Jenny time to devote to community work.
Cr McGregor served as Deputy Shire President for the 2009-2011 period.
Cr McGregor's term of office expires in October 2013.
