Mr Evershed has been the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River’s Chief Executive Officer since October 2008. Previously he was the Town of Bassendean’s Chief Executive Officer from October 2001 until taking up his appointment at AMRSC. Mr Evershed has a background in town planning, educational administration, community services management and executive management in local government. Previously he has performed a variety of key leadership roles as a Planning Officer in the State Government, School Principal and other educational leadership roles and as the Chief Executive Officer of an important regional non profit organisation in Geraldton and the Mid-West Region of Western Australia.

Mr Evershed has qualifications in Town and Regional Planning and Education and a Masters Degree in Business Administration specialising in Human Resource Management. Additionally he has been an office bearer in several voluntary community organisations and has also served for one term as an elected Councillor for the City of Geraldton (1990-1992). Mr Evershed is a life member of the Geraldton Regional Community Education Centre.

Mr Evershed has conducted important research projects into youth alienation and immigration issues for the Commonwealth Government and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

He is a Director on the National and State boards of Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) which is the peak body for local government managers in Australia and a Shire delegate to the South West Zone of WALGA. In addition to LGMA Mr Evershed’s professional associations include membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) and a member of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).
