Works

The Works team delivers Council's annual construction program and maintains our transport, drainage, parks and foreshore infrastructure.

The team has a diverse range of skills and examples of what they carry out during the year include:

Survey & Design

The role of the Design and Survey Officers is to produce efficient designs and plans for all facets of the municipal works programme including roads, stormwater drainage and traffic management.

Road Construction

Construction of unsealed and sealed roads. Upgrading, widening, sealing and reconstructing roads. Resheeting gravel roads.

Road Maintenance

Pruning rural road verges, grading gravel roads, fixing potholes, verge maintenance, weed control, signage and linemarking.

Paths Construction and Maintenance

New paths, upgrading paths and construction of trails. Providing improved crossing facilities and construction of town centre improvements. Fixing damaged paths and path trip hazards.

Drainage

Construction of open drains and piped drainage systems. Construction of litter traps and sediment traps. Improving and replacing old drainage infrastructure. Clearing blocked drains and repairing flood damage.

Carpenters

Our carpenters build and maintain boardwalks, bridges, formwork and other structures. We work with construction and maintenance teams on construction projects such as bridge replacements. We build and maintain a variety of park and street furniture.

Foreshore

Construction and maintenance of boatramps and foreshore walls.

Parking

Construction and maintenance of carparking facilities

Parks and Reserves

A team maintains our parks and reserves including major facilities at Gloucester Park. We carry out mowing, garden maintenance, pruning and tree maintenance, reticulation operation and maintenance. We work with environmental staff on rehabilitation projects. We appreciate the input that community groups provide in assisting to maintain a high quality of parks and reserves in the shire.

Emergency Callouts

The team also regularly responds to emergency callouts, using their expertise and equipment for a range of situations including firebreaks for bushfire control, tree falls, flooding, oil spills etc
