Recycling
Household Recycling
Council participates in a regional recycling scheme with other South West councils. Green Recycling, based in Bunbury, operates the regional contract for a kerbside recycling collection to householders in specified areas.
Recycling bins are emptied once a fortnight, on the same day as your rubbish bin.
Recycling information for residents
Householders are provided with a 240 litre Yellow Lid Bin for separate collection of:
- Plastic soft drink, milk and fruit juice bottles;
- Glass bottles, flagons and jars;
- Milk and juice cartons;
- Steel and aluminium cans;
- Newspapers and cardboard
Please DO NOT place any of the following in your yellow top bin:
- Plastic bags
- Batteries or metal
- Rubber or leather
- Garden waste
- Timber or building materials
- Clothing
- Food scraps or wrappings
- Oil, acid or chemicals
- Crockery
- Pottery or porcelain
- Plate glass
The Collection Day Calendar is available on the website or a copy can be picked up from the Margaret River Office, Town View Terrace or the depot in Railway Terrace, Margaret River.
Drop Off Recycling
Our staffed facilities, at Davis Rd (Witchcliffe), Cowaramup Bay Road (Cowaramup) and Poole Road (Kudardup), can accept the following materials, separated into type, for recycling:
- Glass bottles & jars (remove lids & rinse)
- Aluminium cans
- Aluminium foil
- Phonebooks
- Newspapers, office paper, envelopes;
- Magazines and glossy brochures;
- Pizza boxes (clean & dry)
- Egg cartons (cardboard only)
- Cardboard
- Steel aerosol cans (must be empty)
- Steel food cans (rinsed)
- Milk cartons – tetra pack (rinsed)
- Juice cartons - tetra pack (rinsed)
- Plastic bottles e.g. juice bottles, soft drink bottles (those with the recycling symbol accepted)
- Plastic containers e.g. yogurt, margarine, ice cream (recycling symbol only accepted)
- Car bodies and scrap metals (Davis Rd only)
