Firebreak & Fuel Hazard Reduction Notice
Rangers are Fire Control Officers, providing administration of the Bush Fires Act 1954 and Regulations and public education and advice on fire prevention and bush fire safety awareness.
Information on landowner responsibilities in regard to firebreak installation, fire prevention measures and emergency contact numbers are included with landowner annual rates notices. (NB the 2011-2012 Notice will be sent out under seperate cover during September 2011).
Please ensure you are aware of the requirements for your land, and assist Council and the volunteer bush fire brigades by undertaking fuel reduction works prior to and during the burning season. This includes cleaning of leaf litter from roofs and gutters, clearing flammable materials away from buildings and haystacks etc for a distance of 20 metres, and planting fire retardant (resistant) species as part of landscaping.
