Sister city relationship

Haining delegationAs part of an ongoing 'Sister City' economic and cultural partnership the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and City of Haining of the Zhejiang Province have had a number of delegations between both countries, with an agreement being signed in 2010.

A relationship with Haining presents new opportunities for tourism and trade access including opportunities for premium wines and foods from the shire and the relationship can be used to further promote educational opportunities. Investment opportunities may arise in the form of joint ventures in major tourism developments planned for this region. Small businesses may also benefit directly or indirectly in the export and import of goods and services under this sister city relationship.

These delegations are a successful exercise in strengthening the relationship between the two  municipalities. The signing of a Sister Schools agreement is a significant cultural exchange opportunity which will benefit the students of our school with ongoing exchanges including the the sending and receiving of student delegations.  Supporting tomorrow’s leaders to have a better understanding of Chinese culture and society is a valuable contribution the Shire can facilitate under the umbrella of the municipal agreement.
