The next Ordinary Meeting of Council will be held at 2.00pm on Wednesday 28 August 2019 in Council Chambers, 41 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River.  Items which may be considered at the meeting include*:

LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORDINARY ELECTION
CLOSE OF ENROLMENTS
Shire of Augusta-Margaret River

ROLL CLOSE: 5:00 PM Friday, 30 August 2019

You may be eligible to be enrolled to vote in the local government elections on 19 October 2019 if you live
in or are an owner or occupier of rateable property in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.

Residents
You are automatically enrolled to vote if you are on the State Electoral Roll as at 5:00 PM Friday,
30 August 2019. If you are not already on the State Electoral Roll and meet the eligibility criteria, or if you have changed address recently, you must complete an enrolment form.

Enrolment Forms
Electoral enrolment forms are available from the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, all post offices, all Australian Electoral Commission offices or the Western Australian Electoral Commission and must be completed and reach a Divisional Returning Officer in Western Australia by 5:00 PM Friday,
30 August 2019.

Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers
If you are a non-resident owner or occupier of rateable property in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and are on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll, you are eligible to enrol to vote. If you are not on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll and own or occupy rateable property in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River you may be eligible to enrol to vote. This applies if you were on the last electoral roll for the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River prior to May 1996 and have owned or occupied rateable property in the district continuously since this time. Please contact your local government for details. Owners of land who were on the last Local Government roll continue to retain that status until they cease to own the rateable property to which the enrolment relates. Occupiers do not have continuous enrolment and should contact the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River to confirm their enrolment status. To be eligible to enrol as an occupier, you will need to have a right of continuous occupation under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument for at least the next three months following the date of the application to enrol.

Joint Owners and Occupiers
If a rateable property is owned or occupied by more than two people, a majority of the owners/occupiers may nominate two persons from amongst themselves who are on either the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll, to enrol as owner/occupier electors.

Corporations
A body corporate that owns or occupies rateable property may nominate two people who are on either the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll to enrol as owner/occupier electors.

Enrolment Forms – Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers Only
Enrolment forms can be obtained from local governments and must be lodged with the Chief Executive Officer by 5:00 PM Friday, 30 August 2019. Further information can be obtained from the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.


 

Thinking of nominating for Council in 2019?

For the 19 October 2019 local government ordinary elections, candidate nominations will open on Thursday 5 September.

The Shire will be holding a prospective councillor information session on Tuesday 27th of August from 5.30 in Council Chambers, 41 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River.  The session will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Elected Members and the nomination and Election process. 

Due to a change in the Act, all persons wishing to nominate as a candidate at the forthcoming local government elections are required to have first successfully completed the online candidate induction module. Completing the module is mandatory irrespective of whether an individual is a first time candidate or a long standing councillor.

The induction module is available via the Department of Local Government, Sport & Cultural Industries website.

NOTICE OF SUSTAINABILITY ECONOMY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING – 5 DECEMBER 2019

 

The next Sustainability Economy Advisory Committee Meeting will be held at 5.30pm Thursday 5 December 2019 in Mainbreak Meeting Room, 41 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River.

In accordance with Part 4 of the Local Government (Functions and General) Regulations 1996, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River is seeking tenders from appropriate parties for the provision of Horticultural Services.

A copy of the Request for Tender documents (RFT) can be obtained by emailing tenders@amrshire.wa.gov.au  (including a note of the RFT reference 01-20 in the email subject).

All tenders are to be received by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River before the closing deadline of 2.00 pm AWST Monday, 9 September 2019. No late tenders will be accepted.

Tenders must be lodged electronically to tenders@amrshire.wa.gov.au The email subject must include the text “RFT 01-20 – SUBMISSION”. If the Tender submission is too large to deliver by email, tenderers may email a drop box link to the Shire at the above email address.

Hard copy or facsimile Tenders will not be accepted.
