Council has resolved to advertise for public comment the “Bush Fire Volunteer Services Policy

The local government has received an application to use and/or develop land for the following purpose and public comments are invited.

Proposed:   Public Event On Private Property - Circus Festival

Applicant is seeking a 5 year planning approval to allow for the continuation of use of the Site for the WA Circus Festival and associated events during January of each year.  The events will take place primarily at 171 (Lot 1543) Vansittart Road with camping and car parking to take place on 92 (Lot 34) Wilson Road, Karridale.

Your comments are sought on the following aspect/s of the application:

  • It is proposed to hold the WA Circus Festival for 18 days through January.  Approximately 4,000 people are expected to attend this event with 2,000 anticipated to attend daily.  Dates associated to event are as follows:
  • 4 - 8 January & 11 - 15 January:  training classes for up to 200 children, young people and their carers;
  • 19 – 23 January:  circus master classes for up to 150 people;
  • Public WA Circus Festival Event from 23 – 25 January.
  • These events include the provision of on-site parking and camping for performers and visitors.

Details of the above proposal(s) are available for inspection at the Shire Office.  Any person wishing to comment should do so in writing or by email to on or by the closing date as indicated above, with all submissions quoting the relevant application number.  This proposal has been advertised to provide an opportunity for the public to comment.  The Shire will determine the application on its merits having due regard to any submissions received within the advertising period.

In accordance with Part 4 of the Local Government (Functions and General) Regulations 1996, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River is seeking tenders from appropriate parties for the provision of landscape construction/maintenance services.

 All tenders are to be received by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River before the closing deadline of 3pm AWST Monday 3 September 2018. No late tenders will be accepted.

The majority of Rivermouth Road, including access to the main carpark and public toilets will be closed to allow the removal and replacement of the septic tank and leach drains that service the public toilets. All footpaths will remain open throughout this road closure period and a temporary toilet provided for walkers and beach users. Works have been planned to take place in winter and out of school holidays to minimise disruption to beach users.

Time: 7.00am – 4.30pm daily

Closure details:
Rivermouth Road in its entirety from the Surfers Point Road northern exit point to the carpark and public toilet and one lane access between Surfers Point carpark back onto Surfers Point Road.

Please note traffic will be diverted to Surfers Point carpark back onto Surfers Point Road.
