Weed control within the Shire is a complex task and a range of techniques are used to manage weeds, including slashing, steam and herbicide application and in limited urban circumstances, manual control.  A weed spraying program will continue over the next 6 months during suitable weather conditions.

All herbicide and pesticide spraying in Western Australia is regulated by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and the WA Department of Health (DoH), and the Shire complies these requirements.

The Shire uses a range of herbicides as part of its programmed weed eradication programs on roadsides, foreshore and reserves, for various reasons including asset protection, road user safety, fire mitigation and the control of introduced weed species.

Organic farms are responsible for maintaining any required no spray buffers within their private property boundaries

For advice on weed management, please contact  the Shire’s Landcare officers on 9780 5252.   For information on road maintenance issues, please email or write to the Customer Service Officer  Asset Services at  A contact submission form is available on the Shire website:
