Community Consultation

The Gracetown Foreshore is to be the focus of a new Coastal Management Plan to guide environmental protection and recreational usage along this much loved stretch of coast.

The preparation of the plan involves detailed site assessment coupled with community consultation to develop recommendations on issues such as beach access, weed management, revegetation and recreational facilities along the foreshore reserves. The area covered by the plan runs from the Northpoint boat ramp through to Southpoint and Huzzas including Melaleuca Beach, Swimmers Beach and the lower portion of Cowaramup Brook. The Shire has engaged Environmental Consultant Drew McKenzie from Litoria Ecoservices to assist in the preparation of the plan.

Community consultation is an important part of the preparation of the plan. In addition to one-on-one discussions with key stakeholder groups, involvement of the community is encouraged through:

  • The attendance at site walks on Saturday the 6th April at 1pm (Huzzas Carpark) and 3pm (Northpoint Jetty); and /or

  • Community members interested in contributing ideas or comments on the management of the foreshore are also encouraged to do so in writing. Submissions must be received by Friday 26 April and should be returned to the Shire via
