Following the amalgamation of two executive leadership positions in March and an intensive recruitment process, Mr Nick Logan has been announced as the successful candidate for the newly created position of Director Sustainable Development and Infrastructure at the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.

Mr Logan has been with the Shire since 2011, originally in the role of Coordinator Strategic Planning and Sustainability, before becoming Manager Planning Services and acting for significant periods in the previous Director role. Mr Logan has considerable expertise in planning and infrastructure, management of teams and an extensive knowledge of our community and local area.

Shire Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Addison Brown welcomes Mr Logan to the new role and looks forward to him commencing work on bringing the two teams together while setting direction for the future of the directorate when he officially commences the role in early June.

“Nick has been a valued member of our executive team, stepping up to act as director several times over the years. I am confident he will hit the ground running and bring with him the same level of enthusiasm and passion he has displayed throughout his career at the Shire”, she said.

Mr Logan is excited to take on the challenge of leading the new directorate and is confident that the new structure will enhance the services which fall under his leadership.

“We have a great team working in the Sustainable Development and Infrastructure directorate and I am looking forward to working with this dynamic workforce to create efficiencies in our outputs while providing the community with important local services”.

The director roles were reduced from three to two earlier this year in an effort to provide the Shire with a more sustainable staffing structure and achieve an overall budget savings in excess of $200,000 each year.

The new director role was advertised externally in March and included a rigorous recruitment process which included two rounds of interviews with external panel members from state government agencies at each stage.
