The deadline for funding applications across a range of Shire of Augusta Margaret River grant programs is fast approaching, with applications in areas like community development, events, environment and more due 20 April.

The funding forms part of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River's $1.1 million grant package announced last month.

Shire Corporate and Community Director James Shepherd said a wide variety of projects and initiatives were set to benefit from the funding package, which had expanded substantially in 2021/22.

“This financial year, we've increased the total budget allocation for external funding by $127,000," he said.

"This allows us to support more organisations, groups and events in making our community an even better place to live, work and play."

Applications for the following funding programs close at 2pm, Tuesday 20 April 2021:

• Community Development and Events Grants, which support projects and events that foster community resilience, connectivity and wellbeing;
• Major Events Grants, which support events of Statewide or national significance that help attract visitors, generate economic activity, engage the community and promote the region;
• Environmental Management Fund Grants, which support projects that contribute to local environmental and sustainability outcomes, particularly in the areas of biodiversity protection, waterway health, coastal management and protection, sustainability and environmental education; and
• Community Organisation Operating Grants, which support incorporated community-based not-for-profits with their operation and administration costs.

Mr Shepherd said multi-year funding options were available in several of these categories.
