Find out what critters live in our river!
The Shire’s Environment and Landcare Team is joining forces with the River Science team from Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) to better understand what critters live in local waterways!Come along and see how DWER undertake Healthy River assessments at a permanent pool along the Margaret River.
The team will be assessing the health of the river by surveying aquatic fauna that live at the site, including a range of fish, crustaceans and macroinvertebrates, and measuring other parameters like water quality and fringing vegetation.
The data collected will be used to help track how healthy the river is and provide guidance on what we can do to best protect the river ecosystem in the future.
It's great to understand how the work we do protecting river foreshore vegetation is helping to support the critters that live in the river!
Numbers are limited so get in quick to secure your spot for this unique opportunity. To RSVP, please email [email protected].
Visit DWER’s Healthy Rivers program for more information.
Update: This event is now fully booked. If you'd like to go on a waiting list please email the Environment Team.
