In an effort to support and build greater strength and capacity within local community and the not for profit sector, the Shire has a volunteer and community group support program. Each year the Shire delivers its annual Community Development Grant Program and hosts the "Thank a Volunteer Day" and awards celebration each December. Support includes:
The lifeblood of any community group is its people. Training and up-skilling committee members is vital to ensure the longevity and financial sustainability of community groups.

The Associations Incorporation Act 2015 determines how incorporated community groups and associations are required to be goverened. The Act details requirements for financial reporting, governance, privacy, and the rules and membership of incorporated associations.
