About Brian
Cr Brian Daniel has extensive domestic and international leadership experience in a large company. He was a CEO/Country Manager for over 6 years responsible for USD 264 million in sales and overseeing 320 employees. During his tenure as CEO he also served two terms as the Vice President of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry and two terms as Chairman of the local trade association.
Brian was elected as Councillor in October 2019. His term expires in October 2023. He has a solid track record of improving efficiencies and productivity, and has the ability to evaluate opportunities and risks and deliver innovative solutions to challenges. Brian obtained an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Sydney and completed the Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University (USA).
Brian and his wife started visiting Margaret River over 20 years ago and like many residents, the beautiful environment attracted them to the area, something they are still very passionate about. As they have a strong interest in wine, Brian and his wife bought a 5 hectare vineyard back in 2009 just outside of Margaret River. They moved onto the vineyard permanently in early 2015. Brian completed the Cert III in Wine Operations at the local TAFE and started managing/working the vineyard himself.
Brian is hoping to leverage his experience in big business to help ensure efficiencies and productivity goals are achieved, issues dealt with are fully aligned to the Shire's Mission Statement and Strategic Plan. He also works towards ensuring current processes are stream lined in order to properly facilitate efficient and effective outcomes. Brian supports a culture of mutual respect and understanding both within and outside of the Shire, and a recognition that we are all part of this great region we live in.
