An exciting 12-month employment opportunity exists for a school leaver during their ‘gap-year’ prior to entering tertiary or TAFE studies. The successful applicant will work within the Shire’s Community Planning & Development team focusing on youth engagement as well as other focus areas such as access & inclusion, seniors, arts, and culture.

Community Planning and Development Trainee (HR 09/25)
- Fixed Term 12 months from Jan 2025 (76 hours/fortnight)
- EA Level 1 (17/18 years of age) - $43,241 - $46,934 per annum
- Plus superannuation, career development, generous leave provisions and recreation centre membership.

Community Planning and Development Trainee Position Description
The successful applicant will be:
- Enthusiastic and demonstrate an interest in community activities and social issues;
- Progressing towards successful completion of Year 12; and
- Living within the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.
During their year with the Shire, the trainee will obtain a certificate III, learn a variety of professional skills including communicating at meetings, minute taking, grant writing and event management, whilst benefiting from the Shire’s enterprise bargaining agreement and receiving four weeks paid leave and a flexible working roster.
