To celebrate Youth Week 2023 the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and its Youth Advisory Council (YAC) are hosting free events for young people in Margaret River, Cowaramup and Augusta these school holidays.
Margaret River – Saturday 15 April
The iconic Loud and Proud Youth Week Festival will bring the Margaret River Youth Precinct to life from 3pm to 6pm.
With Drag Queens Maven, Pam Sandwich, Lola Peluza and Margi Pride, as well as youth bands Knot Sure, Ruby & Ruby, The Heirs, Picks ‘n Sticks, Triple ‘S’, and The Everlastings, the Margaret River Youth Precinct will be pumping.
Local artist Chloe Wilder will be running an ‘Express Yourself’ workshop and the Concrete Club will be doing screen printing (BYO t-shirt, socks or tote bag). There will also be roller skating, and skate ramp obstacles. The Headspace stall will offer DIY calming jars, stress balls and more!
Young people are encouraged to bring their friends and families and to dress ‘loud and proud’ in bright colours to celebrate young people and the theme for Youth Week 2023, ‘Becoming: with others we dream’.
Food will include a free sausage sizzle run by Margaret River YAC and Icequeen will be there for those who want to treat themselves to an ice-cream.
Augusta – Wednesday 19 April
Live in Augusta or heading there for the day? Head to the Augusta Recreation Centre on Wednesday 19 April from 12pm to 3pm for a skateboarding and roller-skating workshop where you can bring your own skates or borrow a pair to have a go!
There will also be a screen-printing workshop (BYO t-shirt, socks or tote bag), with both activities run by the Concrete Club. With a free sausage sizzle as well, there will heaps of fun to be had.
