The Shire has been working with the City of Busselton and RAC WA to explore ways to improve the safety on our roads through a partnership called the Safer Speeds Trial.
The Safer Speeds Trial partnership has been reviewing road and crash data across the two participating local government areas and is now proposing to assess how a reduction in speed limits on roads managed by the local governments could reduce serious crashes and injury.
The Safer Speeds Trial partnership is proposing to use a holistic, area-wide approach to speed reductions over a 3 year period.
The speed limit reductions are proposed to be applied in selected areas between Busselton and Augusta, with approximately 550 roads in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and 1,250 roads in the City of Busselton to be included in the Trial.
We are now seeking feedback from our community on the proposed Trial, with a report to be taken to Council in December 2024 following consultation.
For more information about the Trial and to complete the community survey, please visit the Shire’s Your Say page.
