The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is committed to ensuring that the collection of information through the AMRShire website and any online services provided is managed correctly.

Collection of  personal information

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River does not collect any personal information about you via our website except when you knowingly provide it.  It is possible for you to visit the website without telling us who you are.  Personal information obtained on the site will not be released to a third party without your consent. 

When accessing online services you may be requested for personal information.  This will only be requested where it is deemed necessary to provide the service or where there is a legal requirement. For example changing information on the Rates data base must be requested in writing and personal information is required to make the change. 

Where personal information is obtained it will be stored and used in accordance with the Shire Privacy Policy.

The Shire will assume no responsibility for the information practices of third-party sites where you are able to access their site/s through the Shire site. You are encouraged to review each site's privacy policy before disclosing any personally identifiable information.

For statistical purposes we may collect non-personalised information on website activity.  This includes:

  • The number of users who visit the website
  • The number of pages viewed
  • The country of origin
  • The pages viewed
  • Navigation patterns

  • The analysis of the statistics will enable the Shire to improve the website.

Where a facility exists on the website that enables you to register to join a mailing list, provision will be made for you to edit or remove your details from that list.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure your information is secure from any unauthorised access or disclosure.  We review security procedures from time to time and update them when relevant.

Your rights

You need not provide us with any personal information about you or any other person, which may be requested in our communications with you.  Without that information however, we may not be able to process an application, fulfill your request for changing your address details on the Rates data base or provide you with an appropriate level of service.  You will be advised if the lack of information will impact on our ability to deliver a service. 

You are entitled to ask us for access to your personal information records at any time, or to choose to cancel or opt-out of any service or future mailing.  You may elect to advise us that your phone, fax or email details are to be marked as ‘silent’ in which case they will not be released or published in any form.

Complaints resolution

You are encouraged to voice your concerns by writing to us, phoning us or lodging a complaint through the  Customer Service Centre on our website. Complaints will be resolved in accordance with the Shire Complaints procedure as they arise.

Future changes 

We will notify users of our website of any changes to privacy information by publishing it on the website.  We will not separately notify users of changes in any other way.
