The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is currently undertaking an overall assessment of Flinders Bay Holiday Park to ensure the park remains a safe and pristine holiday destination for visitors.
At this stage there is no development proposal for the Park, with the assessment process to be primarily focussed on establishing key renewal and upgrade priorities for the Park’s ageing infrastructure.
Director Corporate and Community Services James Shepherd said the focus of the assessment process was to improve what is essentially already at the Park.
“Infrastructure renewal and upgrade priorities are being identified and scheduled for completion and identification of cultural and environmental values will take place to ensure they are managed appropriately,” he said.
The Shire is working in collaboration with a number of local organisations and businesses, including:
Key site assessment works will seek to ensure there is safe access and egress to the Park, especially in case of a bushfire emergency.
The Shire is also investigating an alignment around the perimeter of the park for a formal path that, subject to consultation and approval, will complete the section of coastal path from Ellis Street to Flinders Bay.
