The Cocoon Gallery at Margaret River Library is now exhibiting the latest works of emerging artist Brooke McQueen.

McQueen’s exhibition, Animals in Aqua, will be on display from 2 November to 23 December and showcases the artist’s body of work and creative journey.

Working mostly independently, McQueen’s art predominantly centres on photorealist paintings, which often begin with the artist trawling the internet for images to spark her creativity.

Once the images have been printed, she hand-draws them on canvas and paints them with acrylic paints.

McQueen aspires to continue growing as an artist and draws inspiration from her experiences.

“This is my life,” she said. “I like to paint animals and people."

As an artist, McQueen is on a perpetual and empowering learning journey and is always developing new skills through art-instructed sessions. She has her own studio space and is always working on new pieces.

McQueen has a strong connection to her art and enjoys the creative process as well as the rewards that come with it.

“Painting with my brushes makes me feel calm,” she said.

Animals in Aqua is on display from now to 23 December.

The Cocoon Gallery is the library’s exhibition space and is used to showcase emerging artists during library opening hours. Exhibitions rotate approximately every two months. Margaret River Library is an easily accessible venue.

To organise an interview, please contact Gaye McQueen on 0416 248 169 or via email on sandox7@live.com.au
