Acknowledgement of the passing of former Shire President and Councillor Mike Smart

The Shire acknowledges with sadness the recent passing of former Shire President and Councillor, Mike Smart

Mike served as a Councillor for the Shire of Augusta Margaret River from 2007 to 2019, including a term as Shire President from 2013 to 2015. Throughout his time on Council, he made a meaningful contribution to the community and was a strong supporter of Augusta and its future. 

He played an important role in initiatives such as the development of the Leeuwin Biddi trail and was particularly passionate about the revitalisation of the town. 

On behalf of the Shire President, Councillors and Administration, we extend our sincere condolences to Mike’s family and loved ones and thank him for his dedicated service to the community.
