Burn Permits no longer required from 4 May

Restricted burning period coming to an end

As cooler weather arrives, the Shire’s Restricted Burning Period will end at midnight on Sunday 3 May 2026.

From Monday 4 May 2026, Permits to Burn will no longer be required for residents conducting burns across the shire, provided all burning is carried out safely and in accordance with local fire regulations.

This change reflects a shift to milder seasonal conditions and a reduced fire risk across the region.

While Permits will no longer be required from that date, residents are reminded that safe burning practices are still essential. Please monitor weather conditions carefully, never leave burns unattended and ensure all fires are fully extinguished before leaving the area.

We thank the community for its continued cooperation throughout the fire season and for helping to keep the region safe.

For more information on burning regulations and safe burning practices, view the relevant pages on the Shire website and check Fire Danger Ratings at Emergency WA before burning.
