Community Celebrates Pool Reopening

Hundreds Attend Recreation Centre Open Day

The community turned out to celebrate the reopening of the Margaret River Recreation Centre on Sunday.

A pool party and open day was held to showcase the new facilities with a range of free activities provided for residents to enjoy, in and out of the water.

Shire President Julia Meldrum was on hand to thank the community for their patience during the renovation, as well as the project team and local trades who brought the project to life.

She also paid tribute to Project Manager, Chris Yates and Recreation Centre Manager, Dylan Brown recognising their commitment to delivering the best outcome for the community and willingness to ‘get their hands dirty to get the job done’.  

Both Dylan and Chris have a long connection to the centre. Dylan’s first job was at the Rec Centre as a lifeguard when the pool originally opened, while Chris attended the original pool party as a child.
