Shire leadership begins transition.
Council has led the community in thanking interim CEO, Arthur Kyron for his contribution to the Shire during his 6-month contract which ends this Friday, 31 May.
Arthur has served as the Shire’s temporary CEO while a recruitment process was undertaken to fill the vacancy left by the former CEO, Stephanie Addison Brown, who resigned late last year. Andrea Selvey will become the new permanent CEO from July.During his appointment, Arthur has played an instrumental role in facilitating conversations between the Council and State Government to ask for a more funding to address the needs of our residents. The State has been asked to make a greater investment in critical issues including housing, community and mental health services; and protection of natural resources, as well as activating the arts and creative industries.
Acting Shire President Tracey Muir thanked Arthur for his contribution to the Shire.
“We’re so grateful that Arthur has been able to assist us while we recruited a new CEO,” she said.
“We’ve benefited enormously from his wealth of expertise and his passionate efforts to advocate for our community,” she said.
Arthur said he’d enjoyed his appointment and paid tribute to residents and the Shire’s staff and councillors.
“It’s no secret that Augusta-Margaret River is a special place, but I think what sets it apart is its community,” he said.
“You have people with diverse perspectives and experiences who are all connected by their passion for where they live. Everyone is unified wanting to protect Augusta-Margaret River’s unique character and beautiful environment to make sure it’s a great place to live.”
“The dedication of the staff and councillors exemplifies this community commitment, and it really has been a privilege to work alongside them while serving the community.”
Arthur, who resides in Busselton will be taking a well-earned vacation following the end of the contract. Directors at the Shire will be acting as CEO until Andrea takes up the role full-time.
