Ag Policy adopted by Council
The Shire has adopted a new Agricultural Policy following extensive engagement with local farmers, industry representatives and Shire officers. The Policy was developed through a series of Agricultural Roundtables and a smaller focus group that worked directly with Shire officers to review community feedback, refine key definitions and help shape the final wording and direction.
It sets a clear framework for the future of agriculture in the Shire and recognises the sector’s central role in the region’s economy, identity and landscape.
The Policy responds directly to community feedback calling for a more structured approach to supporting agriculture across the region.
Following public consultation, the Shire worked with a smaller agricultural focus group to review feedback and refine the final Policy, ensuring it reflects both community input and practical industry experience.
A key component of the Policy is ongoing collaboration, with a new Agricultural Reference Group to be established to guide future work and advocacy.
We thank all the local farmers, industry representatives and community members who contributed their time and expertise throughout the consultation process.
