Property owners and occupiers are reminded to check the Shire’s 2026–27 Firebreak Notice and plan ahead to meet the requirements for their land.

All required fire prevention work must be completed by 30 November 2026 and maintained up to and including 12 May 2027. Asset Protection Zones must be maintained all year round.

Shire Rangers will begin compliance inspections from 1 December 2026.

If environmental considerations or site constraints make the standard requirements impractical, you can apply for a variation. Applications must be submitted before 1 November 2026 for the coming season.

Owners and occupiers seeking an early inspection by appointment due to biosecurity concerns, locked gates or dangerous animals should contact Ranger Services by 1 November 2026. Rangers can also explain the requirements for your property.
