Key Dates & Important Info Ahead of This Year’s Margaret River Pro
The world’s best surfers are returning to Surfers Point from 16–26 April for the Western Australia Margaret River Pro. Here’s what locals need to know about access to Surfers Point and Rivermouth Beach before, duirng and after the event.

When does the event bump-in start?
Contractors will commence event site preparation, including construction of event infrastructure, from 30 March through to 14 April. There will be a break over the Easter long weekend to ensure the Surfers Point car park and footpaths are fully open for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Works then recommence on Tuesday 7 April, with temporary changes to parking at Surfers Point in place.
Our Parks, Gardens and Maintenance teams will also be on site at Surfers Point, giving the area a refresh.
When does the comp run?
The main event will run for 4 to 6 days between from 16 to 26 April. The WSL decides which days to run the event, based on the conditions. To check if the event is on, off, or on hold, download the WSL app or follow the WSL on social media.
Vehicle Access to Surfers Point & Rivermouth

Surfers Point Car Park: Partially closed 30 March to 3 May, fully closed 10 April to 3 May

Surfers Point Road from Rivermouth Road closed during the event

Rivermouth Car Park closed on competition days

Large vehicles: No turnaround area for trailers, caravans, trucks from 30 March to 3 May
Pedestrians & Cyclists Access

Rivermouth accessible on foot via Rivermouth Road at all times

Public toilets and showers remain open throughout
Surfers

Mainbreak surf break is open everyday, except when the competition is running

Southsides will be open unless used as a competition venue
Parking & Transport

Parking along Surfers Point Road during setup and pack down

Weekdays: Riflebutts Reserve parking available

Weekends: McLeods Paddock (Wallcliffe Road, opposite Margaret River Golf Course) with continuous shuttle service to Surfers Point, 8 am–4 pm, depending on schedule
Buses

Operate weekends only, from McLeods Paddock to Surfers Point, on a continuous loop

Traffic Management

Local residents will receive a Resident’s Pass - display on the inside of the right-hand side of your windscreen
Message boards

Two message boards will be located on Wallcliffe Road (near Skate Park and Golf Club) to indicate if the site is at capacity.
