Hear from the lead photographer of Ngaluk Waangkiny
As part of the 'Ngaluk Waangkiny exhibition at Nala Bardip Mia – Margaret River HEART, Noongar photographer, Cole Baxter is presenting an artist talk.
Born and raised on Whadjuk Noongar, Cole was the lead photographer of the landmark, multi-media storytelling project 'Ngaluk Waangkiny on display at Nala Bardip Mia from 2 July to 3 August.
Ngaluk Waangkiny is a landmark multimedia storytelling project developed by Community Arts Network to honour and preserve the legacy of Elders.
In this talk, Cole will reflect on the experience of photographing Elders and the relationships formed through the process. Drawing on his socially engaged practice, he will discuss photography as a way of listening, witnessing, and honouring stories of resilience, resistance, and cultural continuity.
