Homelessness isn’t something many people associate with our shire. But it affects more people than you think, and it doesn’t always mean sleeping rough.

To strengthen our advocacy efforts and work towards safe housing and long-term support services for everyone, there's an urgent need for up-to-date, quality data.  This is what Connections Week is all about (3–6 March 2026).

Led by Just Home Margaret River, this community-wide initiative aims paint an accurate picture of homelessness and housing stress across the shire.  Connections Week will reach people where they are - in parks, cars, temporary accommodation, couch-surfing arrangements, and other insecure living situations - to ensure every person experiencing homelessness is seen, heard and counted in a nationally recognised survey.

In addition to the community-wide survey, a dedicated Community Hub will be open on the 5 & 6 March, at the Margaret River Community Centre to provide practical assistance and access to local support services, including legal advice, income and healthcare support, housing assistance, and ID clinics. Food and emergency relief packs will also be available.

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing homelessness, we encourage you to be counted in the confidential, nationally recognised survey at the Connections Week Hub at the Margaret River Community centre.  And if you are not - help us spread the word about Connections Week by talking to your friends and colleagues about it.
