What is Smiling Starts?

Smiling Starts is Western Australia’s Early Childhood Dental Program - a State Government-funded initiative providing children under five with free access to oral health information, screenings and preventive care. The program supports healthier futures by helping families build strong oral health habits from infancy.

By engaging parents and caregivers early, Smiling Starts helps reduce dental issues later in life while supporting children’s overall wellbeing. Families also receive access to free dental screenings and easy-to-use educational resources.

Children aged 6-29 months can participate the program. Children 30 months and older may receive a friendly “look-see” on the day, subject to time availability.

Whether you’re new to children’s dental care or simply looking for fresh tips, this fun and informative session is a great way to support your child’s healthy smile.
