The Restricted Burning Period (spring/summer) started at 12.01am Saturday 9 November and will remain in place until Sunday 22 December unless advised otherwise.

The Age Friendly Community Plan 2024 - 2028 is the Shire's second Age Friendly Community Plan.

The Plan is informed by the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) publication, Global Age-Friendly Cities: A Guide.

WHO highlights eight key domains communities can address to better adapt their services and structures to meet the needs of older people.

The eight domains of age-friendly communities include:

  • Housing
  • Social participation
  • Respect and social inclusion
  • Civic participation and employment
  • Communication and information
  • Outdoor spaces and buildings
  • Transportation
  • Community and health services.

The eight domains informed the internal and external consultation process and a series of actions (relating to the eight domains) and key results are organised under four Objectives:

  1. Seniors can age in place
  2. Seniors are socially connected and actively participate in community life
  3. Seniors can navigate easily and safely around their community
  4. Information and communications are accessible for seniors

The Shire is committed to continuing to engage with seniors and other key stakeholders to implement this plan in a collaborative and meaningful way, and to stay informed about current issues, challenges and opportunities.
