I am a long-standing resident of the Margaret River Augusta Shire, having lived here for over 33 years.
My platform is a simple one:
We need more community consultation on the issues and ideas that matter most to those who live here. Our Council needs to be more responsive to community voices-whether that means hearing out concerns or bringing forward practical ideas that will improve community.
We need to resist the short-term thinking behind selling-off our shire owned assets- these are things that belong to our community, and as the saying goes, once you sell the farm its gone forever. We need to keep shire-owned land and facilities in public ownership, to ensure our future needs can be met.
Council needs to concentrate on what matters most to those who live and work in our shire-providing effective services, and maintaining community facilities, while protecting our natural environment.
