Campfires, firepits and the burning of garden refuse piles are NOT allowed at any time or in any location.

Permits to Burn are cancelled.

The Community Development and Events Grants program supports local projects and events that address community needs and create positive outcomes for the Augusta Margaret River community. The program aims to foster resilience, connection, and wellbeing through initiatives that make a meaningful difference.

Program objectives

The program supports initiatives that deliver on one or more of these objectives:

  • Encourage celebration, creativity and connection through workshops, activations and/or events. 
  • Build the organisational capacity of community groups to enhance their positive impact in the community. 
  • Provide innovative programs that respond to local needs/issues.

Funding categories

The program offers two categories of support: 

  • Category 1 - Community Development and Events Grants: Funding between $3,000 and $10,000 (GST exclusive) per grant, with an annual allocation of approximately $150,000 (GST exclusive).
  • Category 2 - Easy Grants: Funding up to $3,000 (GST exclusive) per grant, with an annual allocation of approximately $30,000 (GST exclusive).

Edible Gardens Festival

Community Development and Events Grants (Category 1)

Category 1 funding for the 2025–2026 financial year has now been fully allocated. Applications for funding in 2026–2027 will open in March 2026.

This category supports larger programs and events that celebrate, connect and build creativity in our community, strengthen the capacity of local groups and deliver innovative solutions to local needs.

  • You can apply for grants up to $10,000 (GST exclusive). The total annual allocation for this category is $150,000 (GST exclusive).
  • Multi-year funding (up to 3 years) may be considered.
  • The program usually runs two rounds per year, in March and September, subject to available funds after the first round (dates are subject to change—see key dates below).

Easy Grants (Category 2)

Category 2 funding for the 2025–2026 financial year has now been fully allocated. Applications for funding in 2026–2027 will open in March 2026.

Easy Grants support small-scale community projects, programs, events, or activities that benefit the wider community. They’re designed to help groups kickstart new initiatives with a simple, accessible application and acquittal process.

  • You can apply for grants up to $3,000 (GST exclusive). The total annual allocation for this category is approximately $30,000 (GST exclusive).
  • Funding available for 1 year.
  • Applications are accepted until all funds are allocated (availability is subject to change - see key dates below).
  • Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before your project or event start date (the 6-week period begins once we receive a complete and eligible application).

The program documents explain what’s supported and how applications are assessed, so reviewing them early can help you prepare a strong application.

Key dates for 2026-27 grants

All funded projects must be delivered between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. Applicants can apply in either round, regardless of project timing. Please note that funding availability in Round 2 depends on allocations made in Round 1, so applying early may increase your chances of success.

Applicant notifications: early June 2026
Grant payments: from August 2026

Round 2 (subject to available funds):

Applications open: mid-September 2026
Applications close: late October 2026
