The Community Support Services Grant supports the delivery of direct social support services within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, building community wellbeing, capacity and resilience.
Community support services help individuals cope with life challenges, improve their wellbeing and maintain or enhance their quality of life. These services may include:
- Emotional support (e.g. counselling, peer support groups)
- Informational support (e.g. legal, healthcare, financial advice or advocacy services)
- Practical support (e.g. transportation, housing, home maintenance)
- Tangible support (e.g. material assistance suchs as food, clothing or financial aid)
Program aims:
The Community Support Services Grant program aims to:
- Provide assistance with operational and service costs to support the delivery of local community support services.
- Sustain ongoing services and programs that build community wellbeing, capacity and resilience.
- Support the capacity of community not for profits in delivering place-based programs, services and advocacy that deliver meaningful outcomes, responding to local needs.
- Assist local community not for profits in leveraging external funding streams.
This program aligns with the Shire's Strategic Community Plan 2025-35 supporting outcomes such as:
Outcome C1: Our healthcare, childcare, aged care and education services are well-resourced and responsive to the needs of a growing and ageing population.
Outcome C3: Our community's wellbeing is supported by a variety of services, programs and community groups that build strength and connection.
Program status and future opportunities:
The Community Support Services Grant program awarded funding to six community organisations to deliver vital services in our community over two to three year funding periods.

Recipients:
- Augusta CWA: Funded from 2025 - 2027 to provide regular respite and financial hardship support services to families in need. Funding is approximately $10,000 in total (subject to CPI).
- Just Home: Funded from 2025 - 2028 to lead advocacy efforts and facilitate partnerships that increase social and affordable housing and strengthen housing support services in the Shire. Funding is approximately $58,000 in total (subject to CPI).
- Margaret River Community Centre: Funded from 2025 - 2028 to maintain a safe, accessible space for community activities and provide essential support services for local residents. Funding is approximately $58,000 in total (subject to CPI).
- Margaret River Community Pantry: Funded from 2025 - 2028 to distribute rescued and donated food weekly to reduce food insecurity and prevent food waste. Funding is approximately $58,000 in total (subject to CPI).
- River Angels: Funded from 2025 - 2028 to support people with cancer and their families through financial aid, practical help and emotional care. Funding is approximately $58,000 in total (subject to CPI).
- South West Counselling: Funded from 2025 - 2028 to provide affordable counselling and mental health support for individuals, couples and families. Funding is approximately $58,000 in total (subject to CPI).
