Weed management along rural and semi-rural roads
During spring and early summer, the Shire conducts an annual verge weed management program along rural and semi-rural roads. The program helps keep roads in good condition, makes it easier to see when driving, keeps guideposts visible and stops drains from getting blocked.
Spraying is carried out once a year, with only small follow-up spot sprays if needed. Work is weather-dependent, with conditions such as wind speed and rainfall carefully monitored.
The Shire follows strict Department of Health regulations and safe work practices. Vehicles are clearly signed, and a red dye is added to the spray mix so it’s easy to see which areas have been treated.
If you come across one of our spraying vehicles, please take care and only overtake when it’s safe to do so.
