Baby Plover Takes Flight!

Plover chick sets off from local beach.

Evie, the cute little Red-capped Plover who’s been residing on Gnarabup Beach, has taken flight at 37 days old!

Over the busy summer period, we installed roped fencing and signage to protect this tiny and vulnerable shorebird and our dedicated Birdlife and DBCA volunteers kept an eye on the chick, monitoring the progress of the nest and its growth.

Thanks to all the local beachgoers who were mindful of Evie, keeping their dogs in dog exercise areas, walking below the high tide line and keeping their distance.
