Brookfield Dog Park to receive upgrade with new airlock gate system
In response to community feedback and a recent review, Brookfield Dog Park will soon feature a new airlock gate system to enhance safety, accessibility and enjoyment for dogs and their owners.Expected dates of work:
- Friday 9 May – Concrete pad installation and relocation of the dog bag post. The park will remain open, with temporary fencing in place to ensure safety and continued use.
- Friday, 30 May – Fencing and gate installation scheduled to be completed.
Construction timelines are subject to change depending on weather and supplier lead times.
What is an Airlock Gate System?
An airlock system is a double-gate entry that creates a secure, enclosed buffer zone. When you enter through the first gate, you step into a small enclosed area. After closing the first gate behind you, you can then open the second gate to access the main park. This process is reversed when leaving, ensuring that dogs cannot escape during entry or exit.
Why it’s important:
- Prevents dogs from running out of the park.
- Allows time and space to safely leash or unleash dogs.
- Helps reduce congestion and potential conflict at entry points.
This upgrade is part of the Shire’s commitment to continually improve local parks and public facilities in response to community needs.
