Works to repair the bridge on Carters Road are planned for February 2026.
The works will repair the bridge and provide essential maintenance to the infrastructure underneath the bridge structure to ensure the bridge can remain open to traffic long-term.
An engineering assessment in 2025 identified that the pile half caps were structurally unsound and needed replacing. We are also repairing one of the wingwalls.
The bridge was temporarily repaired following the 2025 report, with these more comprehensive works scheduled as soon as possible.
Road closures and detours will be in place during the works.
- Monday 2 February – speed will be reduced to 40km/h from 8am to 3pm
- Tuesday 3 February to Friday 6 February – road closure from 9am to 3pm
- Monday 9 February to Thursday 12 February – road closure from 9am to 3pm
- Friday 13 February – speed will be reduced to 40km/h from 8am to 3pm
Businesses on the road will be open and operating as usual, with the road closure only in place right around the bridge
