Community feedback sought on illegal camping and peak season pressures

Over the past 12 months, we have been working with members of the community to help find balanced, practical solutions to illegal camping and the pressures our community experiences during peak visitor seasons.

It’s now time for us to find some new community voices to form part of our Illegal Camping and Peak Season Working Group for the upcoming 26-27 peak season. 

This Working Group will help guide future policy, education, and enforcement approaches to address both illegal camping and peak season challenges.

We are seeking a diverse range of voices, including residents from all corners of the Shire, tourism industry representatives, seasonal visitors and service providers. 

Participation is an opportunity to positively influence how we respond to illegal camping and manage peak season pressures for the benefit of the whole community.

Group members will be required to attend regular monthly meetings and be asked to provide feedback on a variety of peak season issues. 

This is a 12-month position, and new group members will be recruited annually. Group members are expected to be available for one hour long meeting each month. Meetings are held on a weekday evening. 

The process will be transparent, inclusive, and focused on finding constructive solutions to address illegal camping and seasonal pressures.

To help inform the Working Group, we are also looking for community feedback about the experiences, perceptions, and expectations of illegal camping and peak season pressures in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. 

Your input will help shape future actions, priorities, and how we manage visitation across the region.
