Community Invited to Join Vibrant PrideFEST Celebrations

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River, in collaboration with Margi Pride, Freedom State, Concrete Club and Q-Squad, is proud to be hosting an exciting line-up of free, accessible and inclusive events for the whole community this November.

Coinciding with Pride WA’s annual PrideFEST celebration in Perth, events in Margaret River include a momentous flag raising ceremony, colourful roller disco, performance makeup workshop and more!

Community members, allies and supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community to come along to the colourful and varied events which have been crafted in collaboration with local Pride groups.

The theme of PrideFEST 2023 is Be Brave, Be Strong, Be You! PrideFest celebrations reflect the Shire’s commitment to creating welcoming communities in line with the Access and Inclusion Plan. The events also aim to connect young people in a safe and inclusive way, in line with the Empowering Youth Plan.

Events include:

Pride Flag Raising Ceremony and Breakfast
Thursday 2 November, 8am to 9am, in front of the Shire Administration Building. Join us as we raise the flag to celebrate PrideFEST 2023! Enjoy complimentary breakfast on the lawn with live music by Ruby and Ruby (all ages). Book online.

Pride Jewellery Making Workshop
Thursday 9 November, 4.30pm to 7pm, Margaret River Library (ages 12+).
Elevate your style and express yourself with handcrafted jewellery that shines with pride! Pizzas and refreshments provided. Book online.

LGBTQIA+ and Gender Diversity Chat with Q&A
Tuesday 14 November, 5.30pm to 7pm, Margaret River Library (ages 15+).
Join us for an enlightening and relaxed LGBTQIA+ and Gender Diversity chat and Q&A with Alannah De Munck and Shane Early from Freedom State. Book online.

Performance Makeup Workshop with Drag Queens The Pam Sandwich and Lola Blades
Saturday 18 November, 12.30pm to 3pm, Nala Bardip Mia - Margaret River HEART (ages 12+, limited spaces – don’t miss out!). Play with makeup and learn techniques to transform yourself and achieve performance makeup styles. Book online.

Pride Roller Disco with Drag Queens The Pam Sandwich and Lola Blades, supported by the Concrete Club.
Saturday 18 November, 6.30pm to 9pm, Margaret River Recreation Centre (all ages, limited skates available). Dress to impress and join us for a night of fun, music, skating, and live drag queen performances! Prizes for the best dressed. Book online.

Glam Zone at SAMM Fest
Saturday 25 November, 3pm to 6pm, Margaret River Youth Precinct. Get creative at the Glam Zone at this year’s SAMM Fest Youth Festival.

Pride WA’s 2023 PrideFEST celebration is set to be a dynamic and empowering festival that celebrates the bravery of the LGBTQIA+ community, creating an environment where all community members feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
