We know our community is environmentally conscious and always looking for ways to reduce their footprint.
We want to help you get started on your home composting journey so we’re giving away 10 free composting tumblers – with one up for grabs per townsite.
Composting is nature’s way of recycling – a process of turning natural scraps like food scraps, leaves and paper into nutrient-rich compost to help your garden and soil thrive.
Compost can be used to nourish vegetable gardens, fruit trees, flower beds, lawns, pot plants, and many other applications.

Simply comment on our Facebook post with your name and your townsite (i.e. Augusta, Cowaramup, Gnarabup/Prevelly, Gracetown, Karridale/Kudardup, Margaret River, Molloy Island/Scott River, Rosa Brook/Rosa Glen, Witchcliffe).

Entries close 4pm, Wednesday 3 September 2025. We will select one winner from each townsite at random and announce it on 4 September 2025 via the Facebook post. Please note that winners must reside within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and will need to be able to provide a copy of ID with proof of address.
The Shire is committed to facilitating, advocating and funding action on sustainable living including water, waste, renewable energy and other sustainable practices.
As a part of our Caring for Our Place initiative, we are working together with our community to take coordinated action in reducing our environmental footprint. This includes educating our community on the benefits of home composting, and hosting hands-on workshops designed to help you get started. Stay tuned for more information shortly! Entries close 4pm, Wednesday 3 September 2025 and the winners will be selected randomly and announced Thursday 4 September 2025.
The winners must reside within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and will need to be able to provide a copy of ID with proof of address. Shire staff, immediate family members and members of Council are ineligible to enter. The Shire of Augusta Margaret River may request images of your home compost system in operation for marketing purposes. By entering the competition, you agree to our Terms and Conditions. The winner will be announced on the Facebook post by the official ‘Shire of Augusta Margaret River’ Facebook page. Please be wary of spam accounts claiming to be the Shire or announcing that you have won. The Shire will never ask for your credit card details for a competition.
