The most important thing you need to do before the Bushfire season
Everyone in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River needs a bushfire plan - even if you live in town. It’s the single most important action you can take as a resident or visitor to the Shire.
A bushfire plan is a simple outline of what you’ll do if a bushfire starts. It helps you stay calm, make safe decisions and avoid risky last-minute choices. Preparing a plan only takes about 15 minutes and should consider:
- What would you pack?
- What are your triggers to leave?
- Where would you go?
- How will you get there?
The My Bushfire Plan website guides users through the process of making a plan, and allows users to create multiple plans as well as share plans. You can also download the My Bushfire Plan app from the App Store or Google Play.
Please note - For residents who choose to stay and defend their home, it is imperative that they have an independent water supply, as well as their own pumping capability. While Water Corporation makes every effort to maintain your water supply, however power cuts, fire damage and extreme demand may result in a reduction in pressure or loss of water supply during a fire.
