Local Fire Brigades on High Alert

Prohibited Burning Period extended to 14 May 2024

The Prohibited Burning Period in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River has been extended for a fourth time, and will apply until midnight, Tuesday 14 May 2024.  This means no fires can be lit outdoors.

Fire brigades remain on high alert and are warning if there was a fire, it could very easily become a major one given the ongoing dry conditions and absence of rain.

As night-time temperatures begin to drop, it might be tempting to light a campfire or to burn a small pile of garden refuse, but the simple rule everyone must follow to keep the community safe is - No outdoor fires. This means
No campfires, No firepits and No burning of garden waste.

The restrictions do not apply to indoor combustion fireplaces.

For more information about fire requirements during the Prohibited Burning Period please refer to the Firebreak Notice and Bushfire Information 2023-2024.
