Meet the panellists

Five incredible local volunteers. One inspiring conversation.

The panellists have been announced for the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s upcoming Volunteer Voices and Community Conversations event, bringing together local volunteers and community leaders to share insights and inspiration. 

Joining the panel are:

• Ian Smith  - Ian started volunteering when he was around 10 and continues to contribute through his roles as Treasurer of Creative Corner and volunteer with Margaret River Theatre Group and Radio Margaret River. Ian enjoys being part of a team, giving back and creating opportunities for others, and hopes to encourage more people to get involved in their community.
• Diane Holland  - Diane has volunteered with the Witchcliffe Bushfire Brigade for more than 26 years and Witchcliffe Volunteer Fire and Rescue for 14 years. She currently serves as Witchcliffe Fire Control Officer, Secretary and Treasurer, having previously been Captain for five years. Diane enjoys the social connection of volunteering, working alongside people committed to their community and encouraging new volunteers to get involved.
• Dominique Monteleone - Director and Lead Consultant at Wicked Strategies, Dominique supports community organisations to build their capacity and strengthen their impact. She brings a wealth of experience in working with community organisations and will share insights into creating strong, sustainable and inclusive volunteer environments.
• Mike Moulding  - Mike has volunteered with the Margaret River Lions Club for four years and is currently President, as well as co-coordinator of the furniture department at the Lions Shed. He  enjoys the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a group making a difference, particularly seeing the direct impact of the Lions Shed on local people. 
• Tika Baxter -  Tika has been volunteering since she was 15 and has a long history of supporting multiculturalism, social justice and community connection. She is the PALM Scheme Community Connections Program Local Coordinator in the Augusta Margaret River region and is also involved with the WA Timor-Leste Community Group and Margaret River Tennis Club. Tika enjoys connecting people from diverse backgrounds and creating opportunities for PALM workers to participate in local community, cultural and sporting activities. 

Together, the panellists will share their experiences and knowledge on attracting volunteers, creating inclusive community organisations, developing volunteer skills and navigating the challenges and opportunities of volunteering.

The evening is a chance for volunteers, community groups and anyone interested in getting involved to connect, share ideas and be inspired by the people making a difference across our community.
