The Restricted Burning Period (spring/summer) started at 12.01am Saturday 9 November and will remain in place until Sunday 22 December unless advised otherwise.
Operating Grant Recipients Announced

The Shire has announced the recipients of almost $185,000 of grant funding, to support a variety of community organizations, environmental groups and business associations as part of its latest round of Operating Grants.

The Shire’s Operating Grants program provides a financial contribution towards the operational and administrative costs of community based, not-for-profit organisations who provide long term, strategic services within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. 

Funding has been allocated across three categories including: Community Organisation Operating Grants (up to $30,000), Environment and Sustainability Operating Grants (up to $45,000) and Sustainable Economy Operating Grants (up to $30,000).

Community Organisation Operating Grants

Community Organisation Operating Grants, which provide a financial contribution towards the operational costs of not-for-profit community organisations, were awarded to: Augusta Community Development Association ($8,000), Cowaramup Men’s Shed ($9,000), Just Home Margaret River ($20,000), Mindful Margaret River ($20,000), Margaret River Community Pantry ($12,000), Margaret River Concert Band ($1,400), Margaret River District Club ($5,000), Radio Margaret River ($10,000) and Woven Cowaramup ($4,500), with $30,000 of funding already allocated to the Augusta Community Resource Centre, who are in the final year of a multi-year funding agreement. 

Environmental and Sustainability Operating Grants

The Environmental Management Fund (EMF) Grant stream reflects the valuable role that community groups, organisations and individuals play in driving sustainability and protecting and enhancing our natural environment. Undalup Association Inc were successful in securing a $45,000 Operating Grant for their ongoing work in caring for country. They join Nature Conservation Margaret River Region and the Lower Blackwood Land Conservation District Committee (LCDC) who are both in the final year of their multi-year funding agreements and each receive $49,500 for their significant local environment work including the ‘Our Patch’ education program in schools, Western Ringtail Possum education (Nature Conservation) and regenerative agriculture initiatives (LCDC). 

Sustainable Economy Operating Grants

Sustainable Economy Operating Grants support greater environmental and social wellbeing within the local economy, in line with the outcomes of the Sustainable Economy Strategy. Successful recipients included the Margaret River Regional Producers Association ($20,000), Margaret River Business Network ($20,000) and Margaret River Wine Association ($10,000), with $5,000 already allocated to the Margaret River Business Network Business Awards.
