Rare AU License Plates Snapped Up

Shire Staff were greeted by a queue of community members keen to identify themselves as a proud local, when they arrived for work on Thursday!

Eager community members lined up from the (very) early hours of the morning, outside the Margaret River Shire offices to get their hands on a limited number of AU number plates.

The plates are all within the 0-1000 range which are only available when existing car owners relinquish them or convert them to an alternate type of number plate.

The highly sought-after nature of these plates was highlighted by the fact that the queue was started by one gentleman who arrived at 9.30pm last night!


This year's release was particularly competitive, as there were no plates made available last year.

For those who missed out, the next release of the low-number plates is planned for early 2025. We will provide an update closer to the release date.
