The Restricted Burning Period (spring/summer) started at 12.01am Saturday 9 November and will remain in place until Sunday 22 December unless advised otherwise.
Rare AU Plates Unavailable This Year

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s much-loved rare low district AU number plates will not be available for residents to purchase this year.

Low district AU number plates only become available when existing car owners relinquish them or convert them to an alternate type of number plate, making them extremely valuable.

The Department of Transport requires a minimum of 25 numbers to be relinquished in order for an annual release to take place and has advised there aren’t enough low numbers available this year.

There is currently no confirmed date for the next low district AU plate release but an enquiry to the Department of Transport will be made by the Shire at the end of 2023.

Community members who currently hold a low district AU plate are reminded that they can be converted to a District Optional Plate. Once converted, the plate is owned and can be remade if damaged or lost.
