Shark towers offline
The shark warning towers at Main Break and Gas Bay are currently offline. We’re working to restore the service as soon as possible. If you’re heading to the beach, check SharkSmart or the SharkSmart WA app for reported shark activity, follow beach safety advice and observe any beach closures.
Please don’t rely on a tower alarm to tell you whether it’s safe to enter the water.
SharkSmart shows reported sightings and tagged shark detections, but not all sharks are tagged and not every sighting is reported.
If you see a shark while in the water, leave as quickly and calmly as possible. Report shark sightings to Water Police on 08 9442 8600.
Take note of the nearest Beach Emergency Number (BEN) sign. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000) and give the operator the sign’s code and location.
You’ll find more information about shark safety, reporting sightings and the Shire’s response at Shark sightings and response.
